Public and Legal Notices

A municipality is required by law to ensure the publication of any notice, ordinance, citation, advertisement, legal notices (adoption of ordinances with penalties) or other matter required or authorized by law to be printed in a newspaper. A legal publication may be in the form of a notice of a public hearing, bid advertisement or ordinance that is published (legal notice) in the newspaper. A governmental body is also required to give notice of any meetings by posting a notice in a designated location (these notices can be found on the Agenda/Minutes page).
