Legislative Focus
The City of Rockport’s legislative Focus program is designed to work with representative to assist with making decisions that ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our residents. It also opposes any legislative measures that would hinder the City's ability to function effectively or diminish its authority to govern local affairs in the best interests of our citizens.
The Program is dedicated to advancing the City’s legislative priorities, strengthening our ability to govern, and ensuring the provision of essential municipal services. The program works to protect and enhance Rockport’s interests through proactive engagement in the legislative process and fostering strong relationships with partners.
The City actively monitors state and federal legislation that may impact Rockport and its residents. When necessary, the City takes appropriate action to protect our local authority. This program provides a framework for collaborating with community leaders and partner organizations to advocate for the residents of Rockport.
Both the Texas Legislature and the U.S. Congress propose and enact legislation that impacts municipal governments in various ways. The City of Rockport recognizes the importance of active legislative involvement at the local, state, and federal levels to ensure the continued growth and success of our community.
