The City of Rockport is committed to providing our community with information and processes that not only offers transparency but also encourages citizen interaction and involvement. While the annual budget document is continuously available online and provides the intended transparency element, its length and detail can inhibit citizen engagement.

| The City Manager was referring to the Tax Rate and here is the chart that was displayed during her interview. | |
It's a sham you can't be more fiscally astute. You had the new court house built even though we voted it down. You spent millions on a museum down town we didn't want. The roads are so bad down town and all-over old town you can't drive on them. Yet you want us to give you more money to finish the court house we all voted down. You want more tax money to do things to make it look like you're doing things to help us. You're pricing people out of their homes and businesses. Maybe it's time we put people in that will look after the people here in Rockport/Fulton instead of what you think will look good. At this point I think the people should get together and vote out the entire city council so we can get a new city manager that will manage our city in the way that will help the people instead of hurting them. | The City of Rockport is proposing a 10% increase to its property tax rate. Based on appraisal district records, the parcels potentially owned by you at (addresses redacted) appear to be outside the Rockport city limits, so the City’s proposed increase would not affect the tax bills for those properties. If you own other property within the City limits that I may have missed, I’m happy to review how the proposal would impact you—please feel free to share the address or account number. Separately, the Courthouse and the museum are not City facilities. Those are Aransas County projects, and any related borrowing or construction decisions are made by the County, not by the Rockport City Council or City Manager. | |
